I help people tell their stories, write books, become amazon best selling authors, and create online courses at Self Publishing School. So, you’d think that when it came to writing my own book, it’d be a breeze, a freak’n walk in the park, right?!
Wrong.
Writing a book isn’t easy, I don’t care who you are, especially one that’s personal and deep is hard, and anyone that tells you otherwise is lying.
Sure, having access to the tools, support, and community that I do at SPS, is a gold mine. I’m not gonna lie, I’ve got the upper hand. It makes it much easier, but I still get in my own way from time to time.
No one’s gonna write my book for me.
I have the same mental blocks like everyone else.
I’m a busy mama of 3, a wife, and have life stuff, like everyone else.
I’m always telling students, I get you boo, I totally understand, I know it’s not easy. Because I really do! I’m living it.
As I’ve been writing this book, I often think about the peeps who are doing it alone, scared to start, feeling stuck, all the while wondering if they’ll ever hold their book in their hands.
I also think about the 82% of the population that wants to write a book, but statistics say, never will.
I also think about my future self, my kids, and their kids, and what I’d want to tell them about writing this book.
Then, my friend Taylor, a Publishing Strategist at Self Publishing School started a mini-series, called Self Publishing Secrets, documenting his 90-day goal of publishing his book, and I was like, yaaassss, Imma do that too!
So, I decided to start my own Blog mini-series to pull back the curtain and show you all the ups and downs of writing, publishing, and marketing my book.
I promise to hold nothing back. I’ll peel back the curtain, the real deal Holy field no holds bar truth of what it really looks like to become a best selling author, all the while, raising a family, being a wife, full-time coach, and not gaining 100lbs in the process.
Listen Linda, I’m doing it scared. Even as a coach, I still make mistakes and I’m learning more as I go. But maybe, just maybe what I’ve gone through so far, will help you…
I hope it’ll inspire you like Taylor’s mini-series inspired me.
Here’s to writing this book, and taking you along for the ride!
All my love & aloha,
Sloane
